Course FAQ

  • I recommend writing for about 30 minutes per day for the duration of this course. Plus the 2-10 minutes it takes to listen to each prompt per day, that means leaving about 45 minutes minimum per day for 21 days.

You might choose to write for longer - and that's ok too.

However long you write for, make sure that it is sustainable for the entire 21 days.

It is more important to write consistently everyday, than to write for four hours one day and zero the next. Consistency is key.

  • Absolutely not. This is a great place to start if you don’t have a writing practice at all.

Equally, if you do have are practice but you are looking to deepen your writing with some new ideas and diverse perspectives, this is also a great place to start.

  • I recommend pen and paper, 100%.

  • Truthfully, it is designed to reduce the chances of you getting distracted with other pings and notifications on your phone while doing this course. If you listen in audio you are less stimulated by the phone itself and more likely to put all of your energy onto your own blank page. I wanted this writing challenge to be less about me and more about you and your practice, more about you getting results. I wish to be a guide, not a distraction. That means being less obtrusive in the way this challenge is delivered - and more about giving you guidance in a simple but effective way. I also just love audio - it feels so much more personal and direct to me.

  • As soon as you enrol you will have access to all of the audios for the challenge, you can start immediately and go at your own pace.

  • The 21 Day Writing Challenge costs $197 AUD upfront, or $24 AUD per month for 10 months as a payment plan.

  • For life! Come back anytime and kickstart your writing practice here again as many times as you like.

  • Hey!

My name is Luka Lesson and I am a poet, rapper and educator of Greek heritage born in Brisbane. My work crosses between the history of my family homeland, the fiercely political and the vulnerably self-reflective. A former Australian Poetry Slam Champion (2011), I have featured at the mecca for slam poetry: the Nuyorican Poet's Cafe (NYC) multiple times, performed with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra and toured with respected UK rappers Akala & Lowkey. I have released three collections of poetry independently: The Future Ancients (2013), Antidote (2015) and Agapi & Other Kinds of Love (2022) and two poetic rap albums: Please Resist Me (2012) & EXIT (2014).

My work has also been featured in publications such as: Southern Sun: Aegean Light (2011, ASP), Poems From A Green And Blue Planet (2019, Hachette UK), and Solid Air (2019, UQP). I have been a poet-in-residence at the Scottish Poetry Library, appeared at the Edinburgh Literature Festival, Sydney Writers' Festival, Hong Kong Literature Festival, Ubud Writers' Festival and many more. I have also taken the stage with his band at festivals such as Splendour in the Grass (Byron Bay), 4E Hiphop Festival (Sydney) & OneBlood Festival (South Africa).

I have always used poetry and rap writing workshops as a form of activism, helping young people to articulate and perform their work for the past 18 years in education centres worldwide, amplifying countless marginalised voices in the process.

Currently, my poems and rap verses are being studied on official school curriculums throughout Australia, and unofficially by rebellious educators worldwide.

In 2017, I began facilitating poetry retreats in my family homeland of Greece, starting with the Rhodes Poetry Retreat and continuing in June 2025 with Poetic Pilgrimage: Meteora.

My latest project: Agapi & Other Kinds of Love premiered at the National Museum of Australia during my exhibition entitled Ancient Greeks: Athletes, Warriors & Heroes.
