My new essay: ‘Two Villages’, has been birthed into the world. The essay revolves around my great-grandmother Magdalini and the traditions she upheld as the only midwife in our village in Greece.
It then speaks of my son being born in a new kind of village in Australia. The essays considers family, racism, matriarchy, childbirth, place and ultimately: belonging.
Recorded in front of a live audience at the Sydney Theatre Company - the essay can be accessed for free worldwide on the BBC website.
